“Gravity is Constant. Safety must be too.”

Course description

Working at height remains one of the leading causes of fatalities and major injuries in the industrial sector. Our Basic Working at Heights course is designed to move beyond simple compliance, equipping workers with the essential skills to identify risks, select appropriate equipment, and execute tasks safely while elevated. We believe that compliance isn't just about wearing a harness; it’s about knowing how to survive a fall.

Course outcomes

Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Implement Legal Standards: Understand and apply the OHS Act and General Safety Regulations specifically pertaining to fall protection and elevated work.
  • Execute Fall Protection Plans: Contribute to and follow site-specific fall protection plans required for legal compliance.
  • Identify Site Hazards: Evaluate work areas to identify edge risks, fragile surfaces, and falling object hazards before the task begins.
  • Master the A-B-C of Safety: Demonstrate competency in selecting and using Anchorage points, donning a Body harness correctly, and utilizing the right Connectors.
  • Perform Equipment Inspections: Conduct pre-use inspections to identify webbing wear, chemical damage, or mechanical failure in personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Calculate Fall Clearance: Mathematically determine the required fall clearance distances to ensure a worker does not strike the ground or lower obstacles during a fall.
  • Manage Emergency Risks: Identify the symptoms of Suspension Trauma and understand the basic emergency response protocols required to survive a fall arrest incident.
  • Apply Technical Context: Adapt height safety principles to specific industrial environments, such as working on high-voltage gantries, transformers, or rooftop ventilation systems.
